2011 The Review

2011 has been a good year. There was a lot going on.

I am a team member of Design Speak, a group in St Louis started by Kim Reuther. It's all about interior design. That's Kim on the left.
In the spring Design Speak hosted our first Color Bloom event. It was co hosted by Sherwin Williams Paints and Colt Industries.
It was a successful event and the colors and displays were wonderful.
The colors of the year were Indigo Blue and Honeysuckle Pink.
Our annual membership event was held in September at the Park Pacific in downtown St Louis.
One of my favorite cafes in Rue Lafayette. I visit often.
The cafe is located in Lafayette Square across from the park, a beautiful setting.
Another park I visited is Turtle Park. The granddaughters are quite fond of this park as well.
There were several trips to the zoo in Forest Park. Kaitie took this photo of a peacock.
Every summer there are jazz concerts in the Botanical Gardens. It's a wonderful night out.
And every summer I take the granddaughters to the Muny. This year we saw The Little Mermaid. It was an glorious production.
I read several good books in 2011. Two favorites are The Gospel According to Coco Chanel and The Paris Wife. Both are fabulous. Also anything by Jen Lancaster is a must read for me.

I rediscovered the artist/designer Christian Berard. I love his work.

One of my jobs as a designer was on a reality television show, Real Life Renovations. It was a great experience.

Another project was for The Repertory Theatre of St Louis. A group of designers renovated and designed the apartments that house the actors and directors.

In the fall I designed a room for the Ladue News Showhouse. I transformed a drab reading room into a French style salon.

There were design projects for clients throughout the year.

I have such wonderful design clients. My projects are always great to work on and I get to design with gorgeous fabrics, furniture, area rugs and chandeliers. I love my job.

I saw some great movies this year. My Week With Marilyn and The Muppets are two favorites. I recently saw Hugo and Sherlock Holmes. I highly recommend all of them.

There were some great sporting events this year as well. Softball in the park and

 basketball in the gym.
And then there were the Cardinals. I am a proud member of Cardinal Nation. Those guys were amazing.

 A World Series Win!
And there is always time for frozen custard at Ted Drewes.
I'm looking forward to 2012. I'm sure it will be a good year.

  1. Yikes, you had a busy year. What a great review. It has me thinking that I should keep track of 2012 so I can do this at the end of next year.
